The Nederlands Blazers Ensemble commissioned me to create the scenography for their new show ‘American Roots’, featuring music from Philip Glass’ Koyaanisqatsi score and Native American singer Charly Lowry.

Inspired by the indigenous way of life which is so intertwined with the biological world and specifically rivers, we decided to create a film that tells the circular story of a river, from rain, to the first drop of water, to the many tributaries, to meandering phase and then back into clouds and rain again.

American Roots was premiered in the Haarlem Philharmonic, and is set to be toured through various locations in the Netherlands, such as Amare Den Haag and the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam.
